Advice for better travelling

Captain "DELSEY" and his crew welcome you aboard...

Air travel has its regulations. Safety requirements and the available space impose a certain volume for the hand luggage airlines allow passengers to keep with them during the flight.

So-called "cabin" sized luggage, beauty-cases and briefcases are accepted. But watch the weight - some airlines limit the size and weight of hand luggage carried in the passenger cabin. If you travel with your laptop computer, DELSEY has designed special cases for you, the TROLLEYTM Business or a special padded carry-case in "cabin luggage" dimensions.

As rules vary according to airline, for further information, check the list of airlines.

Retrieving your luggage after your flight
When your flight arrives at its destination, you will have to wait for your luggage. It will be delivered on the conveyor belt between 15-60 minutes after arrival.

Our advice for spending less time at the baggage claim
Label your luggage with a luggage-label (DELSEY® Travel Necessities). It will be easier to spot and less likely to get lost.
You can also use a DELSEY strap to strengthen the safety-lock and make your case easier to recognize. An even better idea is to choose brightly-colored DELSEY luggage in aniseed green or tulip red. It will stand out from a distance on an airport luggage claim conveyor.
Last of all, check your luggage is not damaged. If it is, report the damage before leaving the airport .

If you lose your luggage

If your luggage should get lost, report the loss to your airline. Make sure the declaration is made in writing.

Keep your luggage tickets until all items have been recovered. If your suitcase is finally declared lost (usually three weeks after our arrival), most airlines refund a lump sum per kilogram of luggage.

Leave and return - in the best of health
Prevention is better than cure, the doctors say. Especially just before a trip, since the biggest pitfall for travelers is being unable to leave!
So, take care! Before heading for some far-off destination, a medical check-up is always well-advised. Find out about compulsory or recommended vaccinations. You can consult the list of vaccinations and countries on the Les conseils de Jacline web site.
Don't forget to have a dental check-up before you go.
Remember that altitude (air travel, mountain excursions) can accentuate any pain. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, take a spare pair with you. If you are on a course of medication, make sure you have sufficient supplies with you. Don't forget to take along a first aid kit with antiseptics, plasters, scissors, a pair of tweezers (very handy for removing thorns or sea urchin spikes) and some good pain-killers and fever treatment.

Keep your medicine in your hand luggage.
Be very careful about hygiene. In places where sanitary conditions are poor, the so-called "dirty-hands" germs will be lurking to infect you with diseases caught by eating or drinking food or water.
A few simple rules will help you keep away from most problems:

  • Don't eat raw fruit and vegetables without washing and peeling them. Don't eat raw or undercooked fish, shellfish or meat. Only drink boiled milk.
  • Don't drink water from the tap, eat home-made ice-cream or take ice-cubes. Only drink mineral water and if possible from sealed bottles.
  • Always wash your hands very carefully before touching food.
  • Cover all food and dishes to keep the flies away.
  • If you get tourists' diarrhea, drink large quantities of liquid (from sealed bottles), eat rice, don't eat any fruit and take the appropriate medicine. If the symptoms persist, don't wait too long before seeing a doctor .
